Warm Temps Ahead
January 17, 2013 4:57 AM The overall weather pattern is dominated by a high pressure ridge across the Western U-S. This will keep the sky clear to mostly clear, and help the temperatures warm to above average readings. A disturbance moving down from Canada will tighten the pressure gradients, and start to increase those gusty winds again today, and really pick up the wind speeds tonight and tomorrow. The strongest winds will be in the usual wind-prone areas west of Billings, and less of a factor in Eastern Montana.
High temperatures today till be in the upper 30s to low 40s across most of the area, and overnight lows stay in the 20s and low 30s. The wind in Billings will pick up from around 15-30 mph today to 20-25 mph with 45 mph gusts on Friday. Highs will increase to the 40s to low 50s Friday afternoon. Saturday and Sunday turn colder.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 42. Southwest wind 15 to 25 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 34. West southwest wind 15 to 40 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. West southwest wind 20 to 45 mph.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 23. West wind 15 to 30 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a temperature rising to near 31 by noon, then falling to around 20 during the remainder of the day. East northeast wind 10 to 20 mph.
