Record snowfall for Billings
Light snow will continue into this afternoon over Eastern Montana and the Western Dakotas as a Pacific system moves through. Snow is ending in the Billings area for now, but not until a new daily record has been set. Billings Logan Field received 3.4 inches of snow, beating the old record for December 24th of 2.6 inches of snow recorded in 1990. The last time we had measurable snowfall on Christmas Eve was 1996, when 2.2 inches fell.
Areas from Billings to the west will see plenty of sun and cold temperatures today with highs in the single digits and teens. Lows tonight will be in the single digits above and below zero. Clouds will increase on Wednesday with snow showers developing by the afternoon west of billings. Wednesday night into Thursday another Pacific system will bring the chance for accumulating snow to the area. Highs tomorrow will be in the teens and 20s.
