Cold & Snow For the Week

The snow from yesterday and last night spread far from evenly.  Reports of a skiff to 5 inches just outside of Lame Deer came in during the overnight hours.  While Billings picked up only about an inch, that has made sidewalks and streets slick in places.  Use care.

Partly cloudy with temperatures in the 25-35 degree range for area high temperatures today.  Mostly cloudy with lows tonight in the teens to around 20.

It’s Tuesday when our next wave of cold and snow arrive.  Temperatures just won’t warm much from the overnight lows, and could start to drop by the afternoon tomorrow.  Expect periods of light snow Tuesday through Wednesday that could accumulate to around 2-4 inches.  The biggest impact of this system will be the drop in temperatures with single digit morning readings above and below zero, and wind chill factors at -15 to -25.

Billings Forecast:

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 35. West southwest wind 10 to 20 mph.
Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 20. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a temperature rising to near 23 by 9am, then falling to around 13 during the remainder of the day. Wind chill values as low as -5. West southwest wind 15 to 20 mph becoming north 15 to 30mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 0. Wind chill values as low as -20. Northeast wind 15 to 25 mph decreasing to 5 to 15 mph in the evening. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 20. East wind 5 to 15 mph. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
