Weather: Cold wind and snow

Temperatures will be tricky today, with cold air and fresh snow near the surface, while warmer air moves in aloft with gusty winds trying to mix it to the surface.  In any case, it will feel cold all day with the wind blowing.  High temperatures will be in the teens with a few low 20s in the area.  Lows tonight drop to mainly the teens, but could start to warm overnight.

An unsettled pattern pushing over the region will bring a good chance of snow showers tonight into Tuesday, with some areas picking up around an inch or less of accumulation. Temperatures will slowly warm toward more seasonal levels by Wednesday with drier conditions. However, strong winds are expected along the Front Range and South Central Montana through midweek, making conditions continue to feel cold.

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 19. Wind chill values as low as -10. West southwest wind 15 to 25 mph.

Tonight: Snow showers likely before midnight, then areas of blowing snow and a chance of snow showers after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 22 by 4am. Wind chill values as low as zero. West southwest wind 20 to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday: Areas of blowing snow and a chance of snow showers before noon, then a slight chance of snow showers afterward. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. West to southwest wind 20 to 35 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29. West southwest wind 15 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 42. West southwest wind around 20-25 mph.
