Weather: Clear Dividing Line
January 21, 2013 5:14 AM A clear dividing line is evident across Eastern Montana this morning, with warmer and breezy conditions just west of Billings, and chilly air and snow showers to the east of Billings on the other side of a stationary front. At 5 AM, Big Timber reported 39 degrees, but Reed Point, 24 miles east on I-90, reported only 16. That’s about one degree colder for every mile in-between.
Meantime, areas of light snow will fly from around Hysham and Forsyth to the east today. Light accumulations of a half-inch or less are possible. As this slow moving ridge continues to build in, Billings will warm to the low 30s today, but areas to the east will struggle to the mid-teens for a high. The ridge will continue to build form the west overnight, and highs in Billings could be 10 to 15 degrees warmer tomorrow, but it will be breezy.
