Tebow Sets New Twitter Record

Tweeters were out in full force this past Sunday when the Denver Broncos beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. Twitter announced that the social network erupted for 9,420 tweets per second after Tebow’s 80 yard touchdown pass in overtime. That’s a new Tweets per second record for a sports event surpassing the old record of 7,196 tweets/second when Japan defeated the United States in the women’s World Cup match.
Tebow’s pass also beat other notable events over the past year including the Royal Wedding (3,966 tweets/second), Osama Bin Laden’s death (5,106 tweets/second) and the death of Steve Jobs (6,049 tweets/second).
I don’t tweet. I just haven’t quite figured that out yet but I think there were just as many posts on Facebook about it too!
