Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence!

October is domestic abuse awareness month and this weekend you can help tand up to preventing many cases of domestic abuse by taking part in the Running out of Silence Walk/Run this weekend in Billings.
Participants will be able to choose a course of a 1 mile around MSU-Billings or 5 mile from MSU-B to YWCA and back. Proceeds from the event will go to the YWCA, Gateway House and other local non-profit agencies that assist domestic violence victims and their families. There will be activities for the whole family beginning at 11:00 am including, face painting, food, games, silent auction, live music from Downtime, vender booths and lots of information! The Walk/Run will begin at 12:00. Braclets, T-shirts and ribbons will also be available. To register go to DVAAS.org.
Each year, approximately five out of every 1,000 Montanans are victims of reported cases of domestic violence – and that doesn’t include those who don’t seek help and suffer in silence.
DVAAS will organize this walk/run each year, requesting the support of local businesses, organizations and individuals to fund the event. Proceeds will benefit local organizations, such as the YWCA, that aid victims of these situations.
