Geoff Tate was the voice of Queensryche for years, so it stands to reason that after he was fired from the band and decided to strike out on his own, he was counting on the continued support of his longtime fans. Unfortunately for Tate, it hasn't exactly worked out that way.
Saying that "revolution is calling once again" for singer Geoff Tate, Cleopatra Records has unveiled what's being billed as Queensryche's 13th studio album: 'Frequency Unknown,' or 'F.U.' for short.
The members of Queensryche that split with vocalist Geoff Tate last summer have signed a new record deal with Century Media Records, and announced their first album with vocalist Todd La Torreis on the way. Century Media is a company whose A&R representative officially supported Tate's injunction to prevent anyone from using the name Queensryche until legal issues were settled. That injunction was denied last July.
The tumultuous year for Queensryche that is 2012 is ending on a scary note. Randy Gane, who is currently playing keyboards in lead singer Geoff Tate's version of the band, suffered a heart attack on Wednesday (Dec. 26) night.
Singer Geoff Tate has certainly had a harder-than-expected road to his new solo album 'Kings & Thieves,' which releases today (Nov. 6) via InsideOut Music. The hard rock veteran began the album as a side project from his day gig as the front man in Queensryche, but by the time it was completed he had been fired from the group he helped found three decades ago.
Progressive heavy metal group Queensryche‘s remaining members are back on their feet again, performing at their first live show since the recent ousting of vocalist Geoff Tate.
