Fire Crews Make Major Progress on Delphia Fire, But Weather is Going to be a Factor! [AUDIO]
August 27, 2012 Firefighters are making good progress on the Delphia Fire near Roundup. I talked with incident commander, Pat Mckelvey this afternoon and he told me that firefighters had a good night shift and they are hoping to call the fire 60% contained this evening. Better mapping has adjusted the size of the blaze to around 35,000 acres. Tonight fire crews plan to prep for an upcoming front that going to bring soaring temperatures and wind. Fire Threat Deminishing For Homes in Briarwood Area [AUDIO]
August 21, 2012 Good news for homeowners near the Highway 87 East Fire southeast of Billings. Winds have been shifting and the threat to homes in the Briarwood area is diminishing! Fire crews right now are concentrating on the northern flank of the fire which is closest to the Briarwood subdivision. So far the blaze has scorched 1,500- 2,000 acres and is 0% contained. Weather is going to play a big role in where the fire goes. I talked with Q2’s Bob McGuire this afternoon for a look ahead at what firefighters can expect.

Fast Moving Lockwood Fire Crosses Highway 87 [AUDIO]
August 21, 2012 At about 3 p.m. on August 20 the wild fire in Lockwood grew from 80 acres to about 1,500 acres by sunset!
The Gazette reports:
The fire started between Lockwood and Pryor Creek about six miles east of Lockwood off U.S. Highway 87 East, on the Crow Reservation.
As of this writing there is zero containment to the blaze that crossed highway 87 early in the fire fight!
