Dahl Fire Spreads and More Evacuations are Ordered

Fueled by high temperatures, low relative humidities and gusty winds, the Dahl Fire near Roundup has grown to an estimated 19,000 acres and is uncontained.

Fire activity has picked up on the east end of the blaze, and officials are evacuating residents along Majerus Road. Pre-Evacuation notices have been given to residents along Tumbleweed Road.

On the the K-Bear Morning Show of April 23 , we heard of a spectacular barn fire way out on Grand and 70th street.

The damage was said to have been in the $1 million range. This wasn't just a barn, this was a horse riding stable to 3 teenage girls, all of whom lost horses in the blaze.

Newark mayor Corey Booker arrived home last night to find his neighbors’ home on fire. His security detail, led by officer Alex Rodriguez, had preceded him home and had already gotten most of the residents out of the burning building.

But one more woman remained, and when Booker heard this, he insisted that he enter the house to rescue her.

UPDATE: I had the opportunity to stop by Pepsi to talk with some of the employees, including one of the owners, Mike Dimitch. Mike and the plant manager Ernie gave me a tour of the devastation from Wednesday night. As mentioned in an earlier update some of Pepsi's vintage cars were damaged in the fire including this classic Pepsi delivery truck!
