Sweet! It’s National Doughnut Day!

Could we ask for a sweeter holiday? It’s National Doughnut Day!
National Donut Day is celebrated on the first Friday of June each year, succeeding the Donut Day event created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The holiday celebrates the doughnut (a.k.a “donut”)—an edible, torus-shaped piece of dough which is deep-fried and sweetened and is mmm, mmm, yummy.
Many doughnut chains around the country are doling out freebies all day long to acknowledge the holiday. Krispy Kreme says people can stop into a store and get one free doughnut of any kind, no purchase necessary. At Dunkin’ Donuts, buy any beverage and they’ll throw in a complimentary doughnut, while supplies last.
Why not pick up a dozen and share!
