BBC Radio in the UK has been doing this for years. It is called the Desert Island Discs. A Survey of it’s listeners and a radio show that asks the question “If you were stranded on a Desert Island…What Records would you need to survive?”
Classic Rock Bands Queen & Pink Floyd were the only two rock groups to make the Top 10! Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” came in at No. 4, while Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” arrived at No. 5. English classical composer Ralph Vaughan Williams’ 1914 “The Lark Ascending” landed at No. 1. Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” was ranked at No. 11, Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” 13, The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” 14, The Kinks’ “Waterloo Sunset” 17, the Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter” 19, and Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” held down the No. 20 spot.
