Play it Safe! Don’t Drink and Drive Over the Holiday Weekend!

Labor Day weekend is upon us and The National Labor Day Mobilization Campaign is underway! Law enforcement agencies around the state are stepping up patrols in an effort to reduce drinking and driving over the holiday weekend!
According to the Montana Department of Transportation, more people have died in alcohol-related crashes on Montana roadways this summer than last year. As of August 20, 36 alcohol-related fatalities occurred in Montana motor vehicle crashes, that’s 13 more than 2011. Over the last five years, an average of one alcohol-related driving fatality occurred every three days on Montana roads, ultimately accounting for 44 percent of all Montana’s traffic fatalities. That percentage places Montana among the five states with the worst percentage of highway fatalities attributable to alcohol.
