Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941

With all that goes on in our world, President Obama being re-elected last month, traffic snarls all over town, frantic Christmas shopping. It seems most never forget those dates that stand out, the events and dates that you learned in school and some actually lived.
It is Pearl Harbor Day today!
The attack over Oahu began by 183 Japanese planes at 8:02 a.m..on December 7, 1941. About 2 hours later nearly 2,300 American troops and 68 civilians had been killed. The outcome of the attack was that great loss of life and 8 battleships as well as 188 aircraft were destroyed.
In remembrance of that day Big Sky Honor Flight is holding a dinner-dance fundraiser tonight at the American Legion on Broadwater at 6 p.m. It takes about $152,000 per Honor Flight. About 190 Montana WWII vets have already made the trek to D.C. There are 3 more Big Sky Honor Flights scheduled in 2013.
