Livin’ Large Larry’s Thoughts on Relay For Life 2012

Friday July 13 was the 2012 Yellowstone County Relay For Life at Billings West. The survivors dinner was awesome. The fellowship was great. Even though the opening ceremonies were delayed by about 30 minutes or so due to weather, the rain felt refreshing.
Commissioner Bill Kennedy did a great job keeping everybody’s attitude positive during a decent thunder and lighting storm. Survivors lap was a sea of purple shirts including mine! I am a 15 year cancer survivor and it always feels good taking the slow walking survivor lap around the track. Thank you from all of us survivors to all of you who show your support through applause and tears! It is much appreciated.
Congratulations to the hundreds of Relay teams who walked and raised nearly $511,000 for the American Cancer Society. Relay goal for next year will be to still strive for $700,000!
Emily Nantz from the American Cancer Society told me in a Friday interview that, “the fundraising never ends”. The preparation for the 2013 Yellowstone County Relay For Life started today, July 16.
