Key Dilemma!

Ok, tell me this isn’t the dumbest thing you have ever heard! I’m renting a car until I can get a new vehicle and the place I rented from makes it very clear that if you lose one of their keys it’s going to cost you. Here’s the dilemma. They gave me 2 sets of keys on the same plastic key ring and you can’t take apart or remove any of the keys from! Really! So, if I lose one set I actually lose both or if I lock the keys in my car both sets are in there! Seriously!? So what do I do? Cut the ring to separate them or risk losing both sets?
