It’s National Chocolate Chip Day!

If you are like me you probably don’t need a reason to eat chocolate but if you do, here’s the perfect excuse! It’s National Chocolate Chip Day! Today we celebrate the little chunk of chocolate that can be found in cookies, muffins, pancakes and much more.
We can thank Ruth Graves Wakefield who created the original chocolate chip cookie back in the 1930’s at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts. She intended to bake chocolate cookies for her guests, but she ran out of baker’s chocolate so she substituted with chopped up semi-sweet chocolate morsels. The pieces did not melt into the dough as she expected but her cookies were an instant hit. Today, 25% of all the cookies baked in the United States are chocolate chip!
To celebrate this scrumptious day, pick up a bag of chocolate chips and bake something yummy to share!
