Help Name an Endangered Ferret

She is small and cute, but this little ferret needs a name! The National Zoo’s conservation center is asking the public for help in naming their 6-month-old endangered black-footed ferret. The animal was born at a zoo facility in Virginia on April 15th.
Zoo officials are teaming up with Smithsonian magazine to find her just the right name, via an online vote. Voters can choose from four names- Meeteetse, Rosebud, Shirley and Cheyenne, which are all names associated with Wyoming.
The ferret’s species is the only one native to North American. They were believed to be extinct, until a small colony was discovered in 1981 in Wyoming. The center has been breeding the little guys and more than 200 have been returned to the wild.
Voting is open until November 4th at noon. Cast your vote here!
