   Date: 1/13/12  3:25pm

Temperature:  43 (in the Heights), Windy at 22 MPH, Gusts to 40 MPH.

Freezin’ For A Reason 2012 is now in the books!  First off, thank you for listening to what the cause is all about for the 2012 Freezin’ For A Reason.  Homeless Veterans is the reason!  Volunteers Of America and Independence Hall are “class organizations”.

Thanks to my family, for once again putting up with my strange radio stuff!  My two boys, Bobby and Devin texted me many times and Keri asked them if the came out to see me.  They responded, “uh yea we’re going to tomorrrow”  Well, tomorrow is Saturday and I will be back to normal.  Funny but loving kids!!

Thanks to Keri, (best radio wife in the world) for taking time from her job and life for catering to me.  Mucho love!!  Thanks to my Freezin’ For A Reason partners, IHOP, Taco Treat, Subway, Ciao Mambo, Charli’s Wingz & Pizza, the new Guadalajara on West 32nd, DND Security for their work overnight.  Stockman Bank branches made it easy again to donate with the Freezin’ For A Reason accounts, which we will keep open for about a week or so.  Thanks to other media outlets too.  Once again T.V. coverage was spectacular!

Thanks to my radio staff for climbing on board and pulling some crazy hours this week.  Thank you to the residents of Independence Hall for being so gracious during my 8 minutes per hour warm-up breaks, you guys are great.  Volunteers Of America staff, you guys run a great ship!

And thanks again to you, the listeners for supporting my event, it means a lot to me!  Great examples from our young people stepping up and contributing again this year.  Little Chase Maxwell with his mom, Robin stopping by all 3 mornings to donate cash!  By the way, Chase is 6 years old!

The BIG surprise happened on Thursday when the Riverside Middle School kids stopped by, unannounced  in the extended Hummer to bring some cash and peanut  butter and jelly sandwiches.  This would be the 3rd year that a school has stepped up!  You kids are great examples to us adults, so thank you!!  See you around town!!

Final day of Freezin’ For A Reason 2012!  Thank you for the last 2 days for donating and becoming aware of what Volunteers Of America is doing for homeless vets in the Billings area.  We are not done til 4pm this afternoon so keep the online donating going on our website as well as Stockman Bank branches.

I don’t mind visitors out here at Independence Hall, 710 Lake Elmo Drive.  If you don’t see me in the K-Bear van then I am inside for my mandatory 8 minutes an hour warm-up break.

Here’s a collection of photos from the past few days of Freezin’!

Check 5 year old, Chase out, with his mom, Robin!  This kid stopped by with his mom all 3 mornings before 7am to donate $5.00 !  What a great example of youth setting the bar high for adults when it comes to giving back!!

Freezin’ For a Reason, day two is moving on.  Hopefully you are donating for Volunteers of America for homeless vets.  I am just about to enjoy Taco Treat tacos and burritos for lunch.  On the morning show, the CEO of Volunteers of America, Jeff Holsinger stopped by and had some very encouraging words about Freezin’ For a Reason and Volunteers of America.

Not a bad night for night two of this year’s Freezin’ For a Reason.  I managed to keep the K-Bear van up to 21 above as it dipped to the teens outside overnight.  Up before the alarm!  A challenge this morning in that my broadcast cable that hooks to the antenna froze!  Just picture a 20 foot long piece of stale black licorice.  It was pretty humorous to the residents of Independence Hall watching me wrangle the cable. It all worked out with 2 minutes till show time to spare!  In your spare time today, donate and read all about….licorice! Strange…I know.  It’s getting to me.

A Freezin’ photo for the memory book.

Day one of Freezin’ For A Reason is winding down.  Thanks for all the visits to Independence Hall.  You know where I’ll be tomorrow!  Keep the donations coming!!  And random Freezin’ thought; what do I do when my Echinacea juice freezes!   Answer:  Use the microwave during my warm up period!!

My thermometer works!!

Enjoyed a nice lunch, from Wally at Subway with my wife, Keri as the delivery driver (she is such a great radio wife).  Her first words when she stopped by here:

Keri -  “…and so it begins…”

Me – “What?”

Keri – “You looking tired and grouchy”…

First full day of Freezin’ For A Reason 2012!  The K-Bear van and I survived night one.  I managed to get the van up to 19 degrees.  Early this morning IHOP fed me breakfast.  Thanks to Robin for the delivery for her third year in a row for Freezin!  Her young son Chase dropped by with her to donate $5.00 for Volunteers Of America. What a great example of young giving!

Do I look cold?

The freezing begins at 4 this afternoon.  Not that I like misery, but I have to tell you that I’m glad that there will be some winter type conditions.  It just make this event that I am passionate about more real.  I will be Freezin’ For A Reason today through Friday the 13th at 4pm.

My residence for the next several days will be the K-Bear van at Independence Hall, at 710 Lake Elmo Drive.  I will eat, sleep, live and broadcast primarily from the K-Bear van.  Volunteers Of America for homeless vets is the beneficiary of this years event.

Weather was the subject on the show this morning when Nick Little from Volunteers Of America joined in:
