Crazy Weather in Montana!

How about our weird weather today? It’s February and it’s raining and the wind is crazy! The National Weather Service in Billings says gusts of 70 mph could whip through eastern Montana today!
A high wind warning is in effect until 11 p.m. tonight. Very strong southwest winds will continue today from Livingston to Nye to Big Timber where wind gusts up to 80 mph are expected. Travelers are urged to use extreme caution as dangerous cross winds are expected along I-90 from Big Timber to Livingston, as well as along Highway 191 from Big Timber to Judith Gap.
According to Q2 Meteorologist Ed McIntosh, many mountain locations are already reporting 6 to 9 inches of new snow. Heavy snow and significant blowing and drifting snow will continue in the mountains today and tonight. This includes the Beartooth and Absaroka Mountains, along with the Big Horns. Whiteout conditions are expected with total snow accumulations of up to 2 feet over northwest facing slopes by Thursday morning.
If that’s not enough, an Arctic cold front is forecast to move into the area this weekend dropping temperatures significantly through Monday.
It’s late but it looks like winter will be arriving shortly!
