The darker the coffee bean the better, according to new research out. Wouldn’t being a “coffee taster” be a great job?
THE GLOBE SAYS:
Switching to a darker roast coffee like espresso may be easier on your stomach. Scientists have found one of coffee’s components, N-methylpyridium (NMP), seems to block the stomach’s ability to produce acids that can irritate. “Since NMP is released upon roasting, dark roasted coffees contain high amounts of this stomach friendly coffee ingredient,” says Dr. Veronika Somoza of Austria’s University of Vienna, who conducted the study.
