January 11, 2012 Tweeters were out in full force this past Sunday when the Denver Broncos beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. Twitter announced that the social network erupted for 9,420 tweets per second after Tebow's 80 yard touchdown pass in overtime. That's a new Tweets per second record for a sports event surpassing the old record of 7,196 tweets/second when Japan defeated the United States in the women's World Cup match.
