It was the perfect day weather wise for 4th of July activities! Keri and I were sitting on the front porch late yesterday afternoon and I mentioned to her what a great 4th.."not a cloud in the sky"...not 30 seconds later, a big, black plume of smoke forms just down from our house.
The Celebrate Freedom Family event has grown from a picnic setting to this huge, fun city wide family event 11 years later! The day is culminated by the Pyrotechnics Fire Works show at Dusk. I was talking to George Bergin, Harvest Church Pastor and one of the organizers of Celebrate Freedom about the July 4th event at Castle Rock Park in the Heights.

You can’t put on your own fireworks show on the Fourth of July but there will be two great local shows lighting up the sky!
Violating a ban on fireworks over the Fourth of July holiday could really cost you this year! Fire danger is extremely high and a ban on fireworks has been issued. The City of Billings Municipal Court has set a fine of $500 for fireworks violations. That’s up for the normal $110.

For the 3rd summer in a row Pepsi and the Dimitch family have agreed to help me "Cool Off Construction". During our 3 or 4 summer heat waves, road workers and construction workers continue to work out in the dangerous heat. 101 on June 25, 99 degrees June 26. Cool Off Construction is when I stop by construction crews in the K-Bear van and give out ICE cold beverages from Pepsi.
