Can You Raft the Yellowstone River?
This past Saturday afternoon, I spent some time in the sunshine at Riverfront Park. You can tell Spring fever is running rampant in the Magic City.
A sure sign of this is the amount of BBQ’s that were fired up at the park. That, and the fact that the layer of ice that was an inch thick last weekend is completely gone from Lake Josephine. Overall a great way to spend another Saturday afternoon.
After seeing three white tail deer heading for the Yellowstone River, we decided to follow. We had not been to the banks of the River since our arrival in late November. It had not changed much. Except for the drifts of snow that reminded us of our time in Alaska, where the snow would pile up during the winter season and melt off by mid-August.
My guess is that is not the case around here. I am curious about the run off season here. Can someone fill me in on whether the Yellowstone River is ever completely full from bank to bank? And is it possible to raft the river? Thank you.
