Big Game, But Better Food!
So you got the late day phone call inviting you to a Super Bowl party. And you are supposed to bring a dish to add to the food festivities. No worries, here’s an old family recipe that is easy and good…or maybe that’s good and easy. This comes from my wife’s Grandma Ruby, a good ole Southern lady…They are called “Death Weenies”.I think it is because once you eat one, you will think you have died and gone to heaven. Enjoy!
1 pound bacon
1 (16 ounce) package little smokies sausages
1 cup brown sugar (or to taste)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cut bacon into thirds and wrap each strip around a little sausage. Place the wrapped sausages on wooden toothpicks.
Arrange the weenies on a baking sheet and sprinkle them liberally with brown sugar.
Bake until bacon is crisp and the brown sugar melted.
These can be kept warm in a crock pot on low.
