Beartooth Pass to Close
You know when the seasons in Montana are about to change. The indication that it is happening is when you hear about the Beartooth Pass closing for the season. The story is out and the closing is going to happen a week from today, October, 11, 2011. I recall last spring when the pass opened back up there was still a thick wall of snow on either side of the pass. It barely had time to melt and it is being closed for the season.
From the Billings Gazette:
Gates will be closed at Long Lake, 17 miles from the intersection of Wyoming 296 (Sunlight Basin) and U.S. 212 and at the gate at the Montana state line, 25 miles from Red Lodge, by 8 a.m. on Oct. 11.
