Beartooth Highway is Closed!

It’s just chilly and rainy here in Billings today but the higher elevations are seeing a bigger change in the weather. In fact, inclement weather has closed Beartooth Pass a little early this year!
According to the Montana Department of Transportation the scenic pass is closed from Red Lodge to Cooke City. The highway was not slated to close until October 8 and could reopen if the weather permits. That decision will be made later this week. KTVQ is reporting that the Wyoming side of the pass will close for the season later today! Al Nash, Public Affairs Director for Yellowstone National Park says, “At the request of Montana Department of Transportation, the Beartooth Highway will be closed for the season from the Long Lake barricade to the Montana Wyoming state line today starting at 4:30 p.m.
