A little more than a year ago, Mike Williams, who had played in the NBA for Atlanta and Sacramento, was shot eight times while breaking up a fight at an Atlanta night club.
When he awoke from a coma, the 6'8 giant was partially paralyzed from his waist down.
Enter Dan Ivankovich, who had played high-school basketball with Williams 30 years earlier, and who had become an orthopedic surgeon.
Ivankovich hopes to be able to fit Williams with a pair of computer-controlled robotic legs which could potentially work well enough to have the two old friends playing each other in one-on-one.
The bionic legs have been successful on smaller people, and Ivankovich believes if he can get them to work for a man who's basketball nickname was "Massive Mike Williams" they could work for anybody. Read on to see their tale.

The 2011 Grammys may have been Gaga's show, but people actually won some awards, too. And Lady Antebellum winning pretty much everything else. Here's a good chunk of the winners, and photos from many of the performances.
