Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson Show Is ‘On Steroids’

As the doctor who presided over Michael Jackson‘s death stands trial and the world is preoccupied with the grisly details of his final hours, Cirque du Soleil is preparing to honor the fallen icon with a spectacular tribute to his musical legacy.

The project, dubbed the ‘Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour,’ will launch October 2 in Montreal, and is only part of what the Jackson estate has planned for the coming year.

The opening for a new INXS lead singer has been in a state of flux since Michael Hutchence’s untimely death in 1997. Even though details have seemed more uncertain than ever, it turns out that Ciaran Gribbon has taken over the reins with the new leaked demo, ‘Tiny Summer.’

Prior to this announcement, rumors sparked that the mystery voice belonged to none other than Hutchence’s old friend Bono. However, U2 fans needn’t worry anymore about their favorite front man going back on the gig market.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has mailed out the ballots for its 27th annual list of potential inductees, leaving it to the organization’s 500 voters to pick the winners from an eclectic group that includes first-time nominees as well as returning contenders.

Newly eligible artists who made this year’s cut include Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Guns N’ Roses, Heart, and Eric B. & Rakim, while the Beastie Boys, Donna Summer, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the veteran hopefuls.

‘Glee’ Donating $1 Million to School Arts Programs

If you feel like those wacky ‘Glee’ kids are everywhere lately, you aren’t alone — heck, even Cory Monteith supposedly thinks they need to take it down a notch. But in between all that singing, dancing and carrying on, the show is spreading an important pro-arts message, and the latest ‘Glee’ project is backing it up with some serious cash.

The ‘Glee’ Give a Note Campaign, coordinated through Twentieth Century Fox, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the show, is looking to raise $1 million for art programs at schools across the country.

Reunited Mr. Big Plans First U.S. Tour in 15 Years

They’ve always been big in Japan, but Mr. Big has kept a pretty low profile in America since the mid-’90s — so longtime fans should be excited to hear about the band’s upcoming string of U.S. tour dates, the first for the original lineup since they hit the road in support of 1996′s ‘Hey Man.’

Guitarist Paul Gilbert, who returned to the band in 2009 after over a decade of pursuing other projects, is particularly eager for fans to see the reunion. “Man, it’s been a long time,” he says. “I can’t wait to play our first show in America in about 15 years. It’s gonna be huge!”
