The Old Five-Finger Discount is Alive and Well in Billings
When I was younger, say back in the 70′s, if you got caught shoplifting, trouble would ensue from everywhere it seemed. The store manager would be involved, the cops were called and then of course your parents were going to ground you for life!
This past weekend I witnessed a shoplifting. Three teenage boys, all wearing baggy shorts. I assume the baggy shorts were not so much for style but to be able to hide a lot of stolen loot in them.
I stepped up to purchase my shredded cheese on the “serve yourself” check out, the teens are waiting next in line, seeming a bit nervous. I take my time, make them sweat a little. I stop by to let a store employee know that I observed merchandise stuffed in the teens shorts. I did my duty.
As I’m pulling away I noticed the thieves coming out of the store laughing and taking items out of their shorts. I go back in and mention it again to a manager and she said…”we can’t do anything about shoplifting, so stop”…To me it’s just wrong, and apparently a number of listeners agree with me.
I love Facebook!

The manager said to “stop”…so I will, stop going to that store! My new favorite grocery store is Poly Food Basket!
